New Horizon for Intellectual Property: Establishing the Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property
In a significant move to promote and protect intellectual property rights, Law No. 163 of 2023 is enacted, establishing the Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property (“EAIP”).
A primary obligation of the EAIP involves the formulation and continual enhancement of the National Intellectual Property Strategy which is a future plan established by the State, outlining goals, priorities, and necessary policies for the development of the intellectual property system to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals. The EAIP shall take the lead in all intellectual property related matters and will oversee the strategy, development and collaboration with relevant ministries.
The establishment of the EAIP is a promising step into the future of Egyptian Intellectual property.
