The Saudi Council of Ministers has announced, during its session held on September 19, 2023, the authorization of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Competition – or his representative – to engage in discussions with the Kuwaiti side regarding a draft memorandum of cooperation between the General Authority for Competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Competition Protection Agency in the State of Kuwait in the field of merger control.

This action signifies a positive indication of the collaborative efforts between the competition protection agencies in both countries, aimed at strengthening competition protection in the markets. This is particularly significant given the substantial economic activity shared by the two countries, and this cooperation is expected to advance the practice of competition protection.
