Liana Rashid is an accomplished Associate at GLA & Company’s Kuwait office, bringing 2.5 years of extensive legal experience across a diverse range of practice areas. A graduate of the University of Sheffield School of Law, Liana has developed a strong foundation in litigation, mediation, employment law, data privacy, mergers and acquisitions, banking, and competition law. Her bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English enables her to deliver high-quality legal advice to prominent clients in Kuwait and the GCC region, contributing to high-value transactions and managing cross-border matters with precision and expertise.  

Liana has demonstrated a proactive and client-focused approach, consistently delivering well-researched, structured, and practical legal solutions. She has played a key role in high-profile transactions, including managing the merger control filing for Zain Group’s $134 million acquisition of a 70% stake in IHS Kuwait Limited and assisting with the due diligence for UAE-based Al Ansari Financial Services’ $200 million acquisition of BFC Financial Services Group. Her ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and coordinate across multiple jurisdictions has been instrumental in the success of these projects.  

In addition to her transactional work, Liana has excelled in dispute resolution, representing FDH JV in a significant ICC dispute board claim related to the Al Zour Refinery Project. She has also provided expert advice on data privacy in Kuwait, addressing grey areas in local legislation, and developed an exit plan for the Central Bank of Kuwait’s review of Bank Muscat’s exit and liquidation in Kuwait.  

Liana’s commitment to professional development is evident in her achievement of passing the SQE1 (Solicitor Qualifying Examination) in the first quintile while maintaining high performance at work. This accomplishment reflects her dedication to expanding her expertise across both common law and civil law systems. Beyond her legal practice, Liana actively mentors interns, sharing her knowledge and experience to foster a collaborative and capable team at GLA & Company.
